Herewith scores and tasting notes from the International Wine Review's Brunello Report (#31) June 2012.
Il Poggione Tenuta Il Poggione is a large historic estate located in Sant’Angelo in Colle. It consists of 600 hectares of which 125 are planted in vines for the production of Brunello, Brunello Riserva, and Rosso. The estate is managed by the father and son team of Fabrizio and Alessandro Bindocci who until recently were supported by the late Pierluigi Talenti, one of Montalcino’s most illustrious enologists. Il Poggione is without a doubt one of Montalcino’s finest producers. It has some of the best managed vineyards in the appellation, and its winemaking is first-class. Importer: Terlato Wines International, Lake Bluff, IL
